Review: WHY DO I LOVE IT SO MUCH??!!!
Minecraft is very simple. Step one: Mine. Step two: Craft. The entire world is made of 1 meter by 1 meter by 1 meter cubes, and when it turns into night, avoid the zombies and skeletons. Literally, it's that simple. One might think that a game as simple as this would be rather pointless, and would get boring after about 20 minutes. Well, to those people, I say you are very very very wrong.
Here's how it usually works. You have some major assignment to take care of by tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM. Your head hurts, so you want to take a break for ten minutes before going back to your mundane English paper. You look for something to do on the internet, but it's all boring. Then you see that little Minecraft icon in the corner of your screen, and you click it. You spend the next 7 hours making a massive castle out of a mountain, and by the time you look at the clock and realize that it's 7:59 AM, it's already too late...
The only way to avoid addiction to this little piece of Java magic is to not play it at all. Delete the icon on your desktop, because it's just too tempting to start playing when you have something important to do, and that is where Minecraft works the most evil. And yet, it's still such a good game.
There is no plot. There is no objective. There is no clear reason for why you do anything. But when a game just hands you a shovel, and says "go nuts"...
...you go nuts.
